LIABILITY WAIVER AND RELEASE AGREEMENT
Goat Walkabouts Volunteer Program
IMPORTANT: READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING
This Liability Waiver and Release Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into by and between Goat Walkabouts ("Organization") and the undersigned volunteer ("Volunteer"), who agrees to the following terms as a condition of participation in any volunteer activities.
1. Acknowledgment of Risks
I, the Volunteer, acknowledge and understand that participation in activities involving goats and the use of tools, equipment, and facilities at Goat Walkabouts may include certain risks, including but not limited to:
Physical injuries resulting from working with goats (e.g., bites, kicks, scratches, or being struck by goats);
Injuries or illness resulting from working in dirty or unsanitary conditions (e.g., mucking enclosures);
Injuries caused by handling sharp tools, such as trimmers and other equipment;
Slips, trips, and falls due to uneven or dirty surfaces;
Exposure to zoonotic diseases transmitted from animals to humans;
Potential injury from lifting heavy objects or performing physically demanding tasks.
2. Assumption of Responsibility
I agree to take full responsibility for my own health and safety during my participation in volunteer activities. I will:
Use all tools, equipment, and facilities responsibly and as instructed;
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines provided by the Organization;
Refrain from any actions that may put myself, other volunteers, staff, or animals at risk;
Immediately report any injuries, unsafe conditions, or hazards to the Organization’s staff.
3. Medical Condition and Authorization
I certify that I am physically and mentally capable of participating in volunteer activities. In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I authorize the Organization and its representatives to seek medical treatment on my behalf and release them from any liability related to medical care.
4. Public Health and Safety Disclaimer
Volunteers acknowledge that working in close proximity to animals, staff, and other volunteers may carry certain health risks. Volunteers agree to adhere to all health and safety protocols established by the Organization and assume all risks related to public health, including but not limited to exposure to zoonotic diseases and other potential health concerns.
5. Release and Waiver of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby waive, release, and discharge Goat Walkabouts, its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns ("Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, damages, causes of action, or liabilities of any kind arising out of or in connection with my participation in volunteer activities. This release includes, but is not limited to:
Claims of negligence, whether active or passive, by the Released Parties;
Claims for personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death;
Claims arising from the actions or conduct of other volunteers, participants, or animals.
6. Indemnification
I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with my actions, omissions, or conduct while participating in volunteer activities.
7. Photographic and Media Release
I grant permission to the Organization to use my image, likeness, or voice in photographs, videos, or other media taken during volunteer activities for promotional, educational, or other lawful purposes without compensation or further consent.
8. Community Service Volunteers
For individuals volunteering as part of court-ordered community service, I understand that my participation is subject to the same terms, conditions, and liabilities outlined in this Agreement.
9. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Colorado, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
10. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
11. Code of Conduct
Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, respectful, and professional manner at all times. Any behavior deemed unsafe, disrespectful, or detrimental to the animals, staff, or other volunteers may result in immediate termination of volunteer privileges.
12. Drug and Alcohol Policy
Volunteers are prohibited from consuming or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while performing volunteer duties. Violation of this policy will result in immediate termination of volunteer participation.
13. Medical Expenses Disclaimer
Volunteers are responsible for any medical expenses incurred as a result of injuries sustained while participating in volunteer activities. Volunteers are encouraged to have their own medical insurance coverage before participating.
14. Property Damage or Loss
The Organization is not responsible for any damage to or loss of personal property brought to the premises. Volunteers agree to leave valuable items at home or accept full responsibility for their personal belongings.
15. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising out of or related to this Agreement shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, the dispute shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of American Arbitration Association.
16. Termination of Volunteer Agreement
The Organization reserves the right to terminate this Agreement and the Volunteer’s participation in activities at any time, with or without cause.
17. Employment Relationship Disclaimer
This Agreement does not create an employment relationship between the Volunteer and the Organization. Volunteers are not entitled to wages, benefits, or other compensation for their participation.
Community Guidelines & Policies
At Goat Walkabouts, we value every volunteer’s time and effort, and we strive to create a fair and flexible experience. Here are a few key policies to keep in mind:
Rescheduling & Transfers: Life happens! If you can’t make your scheduled Advocacy Day, you may transfer to another date or send someone in your place. Please notify us in advance.
Weather Cancellations: In case of inclement weather, we will notify participants and reschedule for a future date.
No-Show Policy: If you sign up but don’t attend without prior notice, we may limit your ability to participate in future events.
Support Our Mission: While this is a volunteer event, donations are always appreciated to help sustain our rescue efforts!

Volunteer Activities:

🧹 Mucking Enclosures: Help clean and refresh the goats’ living spaces to ensure a comfortable and hygienic environment.
🪮 Brushing & Bonding: Spend time grooming and socializing with the goats—an experience both you and the goats will love!
🩺 Health Inspections: Assist in wellness checks to monitor and assess the goats' overall health.
