Goat Therapy Visits with Goat Walkabouts
At Goat Walkabouts, we bring the joy and healing presence of our rescue goats to memory care centers and assisted living communities. Our Goat Therapy Visits provide a unique and heartwarming experience for dementia and Alzheimer's patients, offering moments of connection, laughter, and relaxation.
How It Works:
1. Scheduled Visits – We coordinate directly with memory care centers to arrange a visit on a specific date.
2. Volunteer Sign-Up – We publish an invite for volunteers to join us at the facility and assist with the visit.
3. Therapy Session – On the scheduled day, we arrive with our goats and set up in a secure outdoor courtyard. Residents can interact with the goats by petting, feeding, and simply enjoying their presence.
4. Volunteer Support – Our amazing volunteers help monitor the interaction, distribute treats, and ensure the courtyard remains clean and safe.
Why Goat Therapy?
Goats have a natural ability to spark joy, engage the senses, and create meaningful moments for seniors. Studies show that animal-assisted therapy can reduce stress, ease anxiety, and improve emotional well-being—especially for those living with memory-related conditions. Our visits encourage social engagement, movement, and smiles, making a lasting impact on both residents and caregivers.
These visits are not just about spending time with goats—they are about bringing warmth, comfort, and connection to those who need it most.
Would you like to get involved? Sign up as a volunteer or help bring Goat Walkabouts to a memory care center near you!
